Authentic Balinese Experience

Welcoming guests the world over

About Us

Angel House is a 3-suite only, boutique hotel in the Balinese village of Mas Ubud, only 10mins south of the bustling tourist centre of Ubud.

Tourists wanting to experience traditional Balinese daily life and culture stay with us because they have a rare opportunity to walk the quiet streets of Mas and chat to the friendly local Balinese, photograph a ceremony, traditional Balinese stone carved doorway and along the way watch the farmers tending their rice fields or visit some famous wood carving galleries. The traditional food market, ‘Pasar Mas’ is open from 5am selling fresh fruits, meats, tofu and tempe as well as traditional Balinese breakfast and Balinese snacks. At night it turns into a night market serving local food such as Sate Ayam (Chicken sate and rice) and fresh juices.

We are also a short stroll into the tourist village of Tarukan Mas. Angel House is close to local supermarkets, ATM, moneychanger, restaurants, art galleries and hospital (with pharmacy and 24hr Emergency department).

Angel House Ubud is LGBTQ friendly 🙂

The Bale Banjar (community meeting hall) and the famous temple of Pura Taman Pule are only a 5minute stroll from here.

All guests are provided with an internet login upon check-in. If it is about to expire, please feel free to pick up another from the front office. The login codes are sufficient for two devices, multiple logins are available.

Whilst being located in a rural location with only one service provider, the internet connection has possibilities of being unstable. Please be patient at these times and enjoy your tropical holiday.

Our beautiful furniture in the rooms and restaurant is mostly antique, designed and hand made here in Bali, from locally grown and aged teak wood.

Sheets and towels are changed every 2 days (unless otherwise specified by guests). If you would like towels changed daily, please place them on the shower floor.

Plug converters are available to borrow from the front office, as is a table top fan. A safe is available in each room with full instructions. If you have a problem opening or locking your safe, please don’t hesitate to ask the front office or housekeeping for assistance.

Please note that any breakages or missing room items will be charged to your bill at the time of, or after, check-out, after our final room inspection.

An electric mosquito “coil” is provided in all rooms. The optimum time to plug it in (make sure the mat is new) is just before sunset. The mosquitoes tend to disappear an hour after sunset. You can plug in then, close your doors, and sleep easy knowing you should not have mosquitoes in your room.

If you run out of hot water, please let us know! We have to use gas bottles so it is possible that your bottle has run out but it is easily, and quickly, replaced!

Guest Reviews

Dear Angel House team. I loved my 2nd stay in the Lumbung room. Your beautiful and quiet Balinese garden pool and bale was the perfect place to be after a long day out. Breakfast was delicious-many Balinese foods I have never tried before. I felt warmly welcomed and received many inside tips for exploring the surroundings. You brought the Balinese culture a bit closer to me. Thanks for sharing these insights. I am grateful for your hospitality, this is truely a Home-away from home. Warm regards Stephanie.

“Angel House Homestay is Heaven!”
We loved everything about Angel House Homestay from the moment we arrived. The location is perfect; nestled in a small village with many art galleries and crafts yet close to Ubud. There are many places to eat within walking distance which can be quite helpful with children after a long day of site seeing. The staff was absolutely wonderful. They made us a delicious breakfast each day and kept our room immaculately clean and decorated with beautiful frangipani flowers. Annie will help with setting up guides if you need and is a wealth of advice for traveling around Bali. Stay here and your stress will melt away!

Feeling of home – Top notch! I booked initially 2 nights and extended for 3 more. There are 3 accommodations around this small luxurious garden with refreshing swimming pool with clean and fresh water; good for a swim in the morning or after a day of sight-seeing. Everything was perfect, the team is so welcoming, friendly and professional; breakfast (large choice) is delicious with organic ingredients and mainly homemade. The bedding is so comfortable. They pay attention to details in the rooms and it is very clean and neat. Garden is well maintained. The House is located in Mas, 10-15’ drive to Ubud center, perfect location for those who want to stay away from busy touristic city center; yet close. The best is to rent a scooter (they can arrange it for you) to get around Ubud and do sightseeing; or the staff can provide drop off/pick-up to/from Ubud. The Internet is very good and fast; if you need to do some work that’s also convenient. So if you’re looking for a friendly cosy and quite environment, don’t look any further, that’s your place! Thank you for the nice time spent there!

Traveled to Angel House Bali in January and stayed there for 6 nights. The accommodation itself is flawless. The beds are comfortable, the kitchen is great, the pool is amazing and everything is kept extremely clean by the most friendly housekeeper you would hope to meet in Bali (Kadek). During my stay the staff made every effort to ensure my stay was comfortable and I had everything I needed. They also took the time to offer their help and knowledge about the surrounding area, such as which restaurants to visit, how much things should cost etc. From speaking with them I also learned a lot about the Balinese culture and thoroughly enjoyed their company in general. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone travelling to Bali. Many of the hotels and apartments seem to be a bit run down and I would never have learned as much as I did if I had stayed anywhere other than Angel House Bali.
